Al-Zahrawi, who lived in the mythical palace-city of Medina Azahara—the dream of Caliph Abd al-Rahman III—bequeathed the most significant medical and surgical encyclopedia of the Middle Ages: Al-Tasrif. This monumental 30-volume work contains, in its 19th volume, the first treatise on cosmetology and beauty ever written in the West.
Al-Zahrawi’s greatest innovation was his holistic vision of beauty and personal care. He recognized the profound connection between body, mind, and spirit, viewing beauty as a reflection of physical health and the serenity of the soul. This scientific yet mystical perspective, which feels so innovative today, was a fundamental contribution of Al-Zahrawi and serves as the founding principle of EL JARDÍN DE HAMMAM and our rituals.
For this reason, we create products inspired by traditional beauty recipes. We utilize natural ingredients from the incredible botanical wealth of our local gardens and orchards, paired with biotechnological components, most of which are also of natural origin.
