Everything Black Soap Can Do for Your Skin
Much more than just a bath product, Black Soap is one of the oldest and most versatile cosmetics in existence. Discover why it remains our star product in every season.
A Soap with Deep History
Washing ourselves and our clothes are practices far older than we imagine. Soap is believed to be over 3,000 years old, though it began as a simple paste of animal fat and ashes. However, in more refined civilizations, this basic product quickly evolved into softer, scented pastes destined for personal hygiene and beauty. Like almost all inventions related to bodily well-being and pleasure, Black Soap (or Aleppo soap) originates from the great empires of the East—Syria and Mesopotamia—whose level of sophistication was unthinkable even to our Roman ancestors.
The first Arabs to settle in the peninsula brought Black Soap from Syria to Al-Ándalus, where they further perfected it. Originally a paste of animal fat and ash, the fat was eventually replaced with olive oil and the ashes with vegetable soda (from the soda plant), which possesses natural soapy properties. Today, it remains one of the most widely used cosmetics with the greatest benefits for the skin.
The Star Product of the Hammam
The tradition of the Andalusian-Arab bath—dedicated to purifying the skin, the body, and the spirit—is based on the use of Black Soap and the Kessa glove (made of vegetable fiber).
Drawing on over 25 years of experience a HAMMAM AL ÁNDALUS and the botanical wisdom of Andalusian pharmacists, we have improved traditional Black Soap without losing a hint of its authenticity. The new Black soap cream by EL JARDÍN DE HAMMAM has an unctuous, soft texture, lightly scented with eucalyptus extract. While maintaining the traditional base of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Millenary Olive Oil, we have added 100% vegetable activated charcoal to boost its cleansing and purifying power. The formula is completed with grape seed oil and olive leaf extract.

How to Use Black Soap Cream for Maximum Results?
For the Face: Apply a small amount to damp skin using your palms. It quickly creates a pleasant, creamy foam. Leave it on for about 3 minutes and rinse well with lukewarm water. The sensation of the foam combined with eucalyptus is delightfully invigorating.
For the Body: Apply a walnut-sized amount to damp skin, massaging gently. Wet your Kessa glove and massage in circular, upward motions from the ankles to the waist, then from the waist toward the heart. Focus on rougher areas like knees and elbows before rinsing. Your skin will feel renewed and luminous.
Circulation & Texture: This ritual is highly recommended for improving circulation in tired legs and enhancing the appearance of skin with cellulite or stretch marks.
Pre-Depilation: It leaves the skin clean and prepared, making any hair removal method easier.
Shaving & Beard Care: It works excellently as a shaving soap. Apply to damp skin until it foams, let it sit for 2 minutes, and the blade will glide effortlessly. For those with beards, it cleanses the hair thoroughly while protecting the skin underneath.
